A cartoon blog starring Laurel Tilbury, 9, of 33-1/3 Tadcaster Place, Worcester, Massachusetts. New cartoons appear every Sunday in the Living/Homes section of the Sunday Telegram and online at www.telegram.com.
Jeff Barnard was one of the best friends Worcester had. His kindness and support when this blog was started--together with his sense of humor and laughter when we met at stART last year--I'll always remember. Here's our gal Laurel as Cinderella riding home with Jeff in a cartoon from October 2009, not long after our first meeting. Our condolences to Kathy and family. Excelsior, Jeff.
With the Worcester TelegramTowns site, alas, still in need of its figurative bug spray, we submit the latest adventures of our gal Laurel from today's print edition for your entertainment and approval.
The TelegramTowns page at www.telegram.com has been redesigned recently, with a number of technical difficulties to be fine-tuned, among them Laurel's disappearance on the new page (though she does appear on the old page, accessible further down on the telegram.com site). So Laurel will return to her Sunday block every week, with the Nov. 11 cartoon presented here for your entertainment and approval. Become a Facebook friend of mine and see her every Thursday, also!
Also, Derek Ring and I will be "boofmates" again at stART's holiday event Dec. 5 at Union Station. With luck, the new Laurel book will join us. Be seeing you!
Began to eat in Worcester, 1957. Allegedly grew up on South Ludlow St. Alumnus of dubious standing: Heard St. School, Worcester Alternative High School, UMass-Amherst (wrote senior thesis on KRAZY KAT). Cartoons have appeared in CLASSIC IMAGES, WORCESTER MAGAZINE, MOTHERTOWN, WORCESTER TELEGRAM & GAZETTE, INCITY TIMES. Married to Bernadette since 1989, a testament to her sense of humor, and daddy to honorary kids Eric John Yankus-Franco and Jessica-Lee Van Winkle, and to pen-and-ink daughter Laurel Angela Tilbury.
